Chandra Chakraborty
Under the able guidance of her gurus at the Academy, the late Pandit A Kanan and the late Malabika Kanan, Chandra Chakrabarty, has given Khayal and Thumri a touch of her vibrant personality and has created a style distinctly her own. She was a scholar at the Academy between 1987 and 1991. She later moved to Johannesburg on an ICCR fellowship, as a teacher of Indian music at the Indian Consulate. Currently based out of UK, Chandra is performing all over UK and Europe under the banner of well known organizers. In addition to her regular performances, teaching and music workshops, Chandra works full time, managing one of the London's busiest libraries. This recital took place at the Academy on August 12, 2009. Accompanying Chandra were Samar Saha on tabla and on harmonium, Jyoti Goho.
