The Wednesday Recital
Born in 1992, Adnan started his initial sitar taalim under his maternal grandfather, Late Zafar Ahmed Khan. He has since been learning the intricacies of the instrument from his father, Ustad Saeed Khan of Kirana gharana who is a renowned Sitar player.
The gayaki ang is clearly palpable in his rendition of sitar. Further, he gives stress on melody and fine tonal quality, purity of ragas, swar and sargam. He is currently learning gayaki ang from his uncle Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan.
Adnan has performed in various programmes throughout India including the music festival of Harballav in Jalandhar, and the Kal ke Kalakar Festival in Mumbai. He became a Junior Scholar at ITC SRA under Ustad Mashkoor Ali Khan on December 2009.
Following is an excerpt of his performance at a baithak in ITC-SRA, where he was accompanied by our Junior Scholar Yashwant Vaishnav on the tabla.
