Shri Brajeswar Mukherjee’s performance at the Wednesday Recital, 26th June:

The auditorium of the ITC Sangeet Research Academy was packed as Shri Brajeswar Mukherjee, the youngest Guru of the Academy, delivered a performance at the Wednesday Recital on 26th June. He began the performance with a vilambit and a drut bandish in Raga Shuddh Kalyan, both compositions of Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh. This was followed by two compositions in Raga Hameer. Brajeswar concluded the recital with a Bhajan, “Hari om tat sat”, a composition immortalised by Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan.

He was accompanied by Rupashree Bhattacharya on the Harmonium and Sanjoy Adhikary on the Tabla. A disciple of Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, Brajeswar’s forte is a gayaki that is a perfect blend of melody and Raagdari.
