Our Scholars Perform
Tushar Dutta joined ITC Sangeet Research Academy in 1983, studying first under Pandit A Kanan and later, Pandit Arun Bhaduri, as a general class student. Later, as a scholar in 1992, he became a Gandabandh Shagird of Pandit K G Ginde, after whose demise he took advanced talim from Pandit Sunil Bose of the Agra gharana. He left the Academy in 1999, to explore the world on his own. Presently Tushar is under the guidance of his `Guru-Sister` Smt. Subhra Guha.
In 1998, Tushar stood first in Khayal at All India University competition in Banaras. He got the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and was nominated as one of the best new talents for Ananda Sangeet Puraskar by Ananda Bazar Group of Publications in the field of Bengali Songs. Tushar has received the Surmani title from Sur Sringar Samsad of Mumbai. Since 1996 he has been an A-grade khayal performer of All India Radio and has also sung for the National programme. Equally adept at singing bhajans, he is a regular radio performer and has numerous music album releases to his credit. Tushar has been performing regularly in prestigious music conferences all over India and across the globe, with increasing popularity.
