Our Scholars Perform
Imbibing music from her parents, Durba was nurtured in the basics of Hindustani vocal music by Ustad Mazhar Ali Khan. She was associated with the Academy for nearly 9 years, where she received tutelage from Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, first as a general class student and later as a scholar for many years. Durba also took specialised lessons from Vidushi Meera Banerjee, the veteran musician who was a shagird of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan.She has performed at several cities in India including the Amir Khusro Music Conference in Chennai while her international concerts include performances at the Esplanade Theatre in Singapore, Sangeetaanjali in Fremont, Bay Area, Humber College, University of Toronto and several other concert tours all over the world. She has cassette & CD releases of bhajans to her credit. Durba currently divides her time between teaching raga music at the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Culture, in Kolkata , training online and performing in concerts.
