Our Scholars Perform
Born in Burdwan, Brajeswar Mukherjee was initiated by his parents and later learnt from Shri Hara Kumar Chatterjee and Shri Asit Roy. He was then accepted as a disciple by Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty from 1997 and continues to train under him at ITC-SRA, where he is a scholar since May 2009. In 2005 he came first in the B.A Examination in music from Calcutta University and received the “Dhananjay Bhattacharya Award”. He has been teaching at Shrutinandan, the music school established by Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty since 2000 and has been accompanying his Guru on the harmonium and providing vocal support in concerts around the world since 2003.
He has also sung with Dr M Balamuralikrishna in Chennai and Singapore. His solo performances have been at prestigious concerts like the ITC SRA Mangaldeep Sammelans, the Dharwad Music Festival, NCPA Mumbai, India Habitat Center, Legends of India at Kolkata and Rajya Sangeet Academy. He has also performed at the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan at London and at concerts in New Orleans and Charlotte in USA. A B-High graded artist of All India Radio & Doordarshan, he had earlier won the Govt. of India’s National Scholarship. In 2009 he stood 1st Class 2nd in the Masters degree in Music from Calcutta University. In January 2012, Brajeswar was the proud recipient of the Gaanvardhan Award at Pune. As of August 2013, Brajeswar has become a Musician Tutor of the Academy.
