A group of audience listened with
excitement as two artistes of the Academy, Diya Chowdhury and Swarnendu Mandal
delivered their solo performances on 8th April, 2026. Diya, a
Scholar under Shri Omkar Dadarkar, began the soiree with a vilambit khayal in
Raga Marwa, which was followed by a drut set to ektaal. Diya concluded with a
bhajan. She was accompanied by Shri Bivash Sanghai on the Tabla and Smt
Rupashree Bhattacharya on the Harmonium.
The next performer of the day was
Swarnendu, a Scholar under Shri Abir Hossain. Swarnendu began with an alaap in
Raga Jhinjhoti, which was followed by a self-composed gat in jhaptaal. He ended
his performance with two traditional gats of the Senia Shahjahanpur Gharana.
Swarnendu was accompanied by Shri Ashis Paul on the Tabla.
