This Wednesday Recital featured two of our young Scholars,
Shounak Roy and Devangbhushan Basumatary. Shounak, a Scholar under Shri Abir
Hossain, set the mood for the evening with a performance in Raga Patdeep. Shounak delivered two different compositions
of the raga in rupak and teental. He concluded with a dhun in Raga Kirwani.
The next performer was Devangbhushan Basumatary, a Scholar
under Shri Omkar Dadarkar. Devangbhushan began his performance with Raga Jog in
typical Gwalior-style gayaki, using both the nishads. He set the raga to motion
with two compositions in teental and ektaal. Devangbhushan finished off with a
Bhairavi dadra. The performers were accompanied by Shri Ashoke Mukherjee on the
Tabla and Shri Gourab Chatterjee on the Harmonium.
